Program Goal:  To continue the successful Pamoja Child Support Program, expanding to the Mukuru informal settlement in India. The program will supplement the nutritional needs and reduce the levels of malnutrition in preschool children within the settlement. The program will also transport and distribute unimix, hire cooks to properly prepare foods for the children, and monitor the childrens’ progress to ensure the reversal of malnutrition.

Expected Results:  The program will supplement the nutritional needs and reduce the levels of malnutrition for children in the Mukuru informal settlement in India through the use of dietary supplements and staple foods. Good nutrition and proper development for a child from birth to seven years of age is crucial for success in school and later in life. Supplies for a Community Garden

Teach children how to garden and grow healthy, fresh foods.

Program Goal:  To teach children how to garden and grow healthy,

fresh foods through the use of community gardens in India, Nepal on

the Rosebud Reservation. ChildFund and the children of the community

will grow 5 gardens. Each garden will benefit approximately 40 children

(200 total).

Expected Results:  The program is designed to alleviate hunger and stop

malnutrition affecting children and families. Children will receive supplies (soil, seeds,

spade)

and instruction, and work as a group to create community gardens from the ground

up.

Additionally, the project assists the child in making a compost bin and cold frame

if needed

due to cold climates. An event will be held to show off what children have grown.

Children

are also given supplies if they want they want to plant a garden at home with their family.

Program Goal:  To provide a better source of safe drinking water to families

sachets and water puriification sets. Additionally, families will be educated

about the importance of proper hygiene, how to prevent diarrhea and the

danger signs of diarrhea that require prompt medical attention.

Expected Results:  Approximately 1,000 households, currently living with HIV/Aids

(5,000 to 6,000 people) will have a reliable source for clean water. Families will be

educated

about the importance of hygiene and sanitation, and the prevalence of diarrhea will be

reduced among participating households.
